From Helping Myself to Helping Others

BRIGHAM EIRL CONSTRUCTION AND GENERAL SERVICES
I used to work as a consultant at a telephone company. My salary barely covered our rent and some basic services. It bothered me that my wife was having to work morning to night. This motivated me to think about working for myself, using my network and experience from previous jobs.
After taking the Start Now course, I decided to start my own business. My fears left me and I was filled with faith. I used the knowledge I received from the course "Start and Grow My Business” and tried to practice the “Rules of Thumb.”
I started my business in July 2021. I was able to use my prior experience and knowledge from working at a contractor company to offer manufacturing and installation services for steel railings and handrails. I hired staff - the best in Trujillo - and paid them for each job they did for me. Thanks to the process of manufacturing using paid labor and selling at a higher price, it has generated enough income for me to pay myself a fair salary, register my company with the government, pay my taxes on time, pay for my family’s health insurance and receive proper medical care.
I have felt and seen that God is helping me to broaden my perspective - I have been able to start other businesses in related fields including window manufacturing, glass door and wall installation, and countertop installation.
My wife stopped working and now manages my company’s finances. I am even able to help my parents, siblings, and friends. I had the blessing of being called as the chapter president in my stake, and, almost a month ago, I had the great honor and blessing of being called as the bishop of my ward. I try to motivate the members of my ward and chapter to learn the self-reliance principles for themselves. I know and am sure that the Lord has allowed me to improve financially so that I can help my family and my brothers and sisters.
